Abstract
1 January 2009 ISSN 1816-7950 = Water SA (on-line) 90 more, the applicability of the Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherms was investigated, in order to understand the mechanism of the adsorption process and establish the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent fly ash. Lastly, the desorption of the phenolic compounds was considered to gauge the efficiency of the process. This study will add to the current knowledge of the characteristics and behaviour of South African fly ash, and its suitability as a potential adsorbent in various applications.
