Abstract

2 April 1998 1153 Introduction Reductive dechlorination is considered the initial step in anaerobic biodegradation of chlorinated phenols. Although the dechlorination mechanism and pathway have been extensively investigated, little attention has been paid to the pH dependency of this biodegradation process. Information on the effect of pHon reductive dechlorination was diverse, and sometimes conflicting. 5. 1 (Madsen and Aamand, 1992). 5 buffer in their study on sequential anaerobic degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) in freshwater sediments.
