Abstract

Fluid Thoughts Fluid Thoughts WRC CEO, Dhesigen Naidoo On 2 September the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurria, and the Chairperson of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), Ursula Schaefer-Preuss, launched a Global Dialogue on Water Security and Sustainable Growth. The project was launched as a side event at World Water Week, in Stockholm, Sweden. The dialogue, which will highlight the issue of water security within the post 2015 development framework, will be convened by a high-level panel supported by a research and technical team led by Claudia Sadoff, a World Bank economist on secondment to the GWP for this project. Mr Gurria also used the platform to launch the OECD risk-based water management report titled ‘Water Security for Better Lives’ . The goal is to use these combined processes to culminate in the launch of a ‘Water Security and Sustainable Growth’ report at the 7th World Water Forum in Korea in 2015 and provide guidance to the post-Millennium Development Goal (MDG) dialogue.
