Abstract
Pilot plant A pilot plant was constructed at Zeekoegat WWTW. This is a 3 kW installation utilizing a locally made Kaplan type impeller configuration, depicted in Figure i. The pipework allows for two flo w configurations : (i) through the bottom outlet or (ii) siphoning over the dam wall. The electricity is used on site for lighting and improvement of water quality through aeration of the final effluent.
